Choosing a Career

Career is a particular occupation for which you are trained and may not necessarily be the course you studied.  Most people have studied a course even professional courses but choose a carrier in other fields. For instance you have Lawyers, Doctors, and other professions in the movie and entertainment industries today.

One would have thought that it should be easier and better to choose your carrier based on what you studied but it is not always the case, even though there are some cases that you must study exactly the very course that has to do with the career path you are choosing. For instance you must study medicine to be a medical doctor you cannot just learn the skill and continue learning on the job because you will be termed a quack Doctor.

Honestly, I think it would have been better for one to choose a career based on your course of study and based on passion rather than people being impressedto study the so called prestigious courses like Medicine, Engineering, Law and so on. Most at times our parents and guardians are the ones who stylishly influence our course of study because that is what they love and would not bother to find out if we will want to choose that carrier path later in life.

Choosing a career would also be a lot easier if our Universities and Higher institutions of learning will be a little liberal in bring in some courses relevant to our times, it will help one to choose a career in the course one have studied honestly there are things one loves to do and have great passion for but they are never studied in the institutions of higher learning and so you find that one studied one course in the university and choose another thing as career as such would lose time in acquiring skills for this career.  Although most people now choose their career based on where their passion has led them, they do not allow their course of study to become a hindrance to them in any way.

In choosing a career it might help for us to put the following in perspective, your interest, ambitions, skills, strengths, goals and aspirations and fulfillment you get in your career choice.  Therefore it is very wrong to choose a career based on prestige attached to such career even when you do not find fulfillment in it.  Choosing a career should be something you will do gradually while considering the experiences you have gathered in life and the responsibility such career will put on you as an individual, it is important to consider this points in order to harness your career and do your best in your choosing field and find fulfillment at the same time.

We will be treating case studies of realistic mistakes made by individuals who choose wrong career paths in our subsequent discourse.
